Wayfinding System for Lyon’s Historic Center

To mark the occasion of Lyon’s designation as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the city implemented a specialized wayfinding system to help visitors navigate and find information.

Orientation tables, wayfinding posts, and pavement markers were installed across the designated area—specifically Vieux Lyon, the Presqu’Île, Confluence, and Fourvière. Visitors can rely on these aids to explore the city:

- 11 custom-made Francioli ART orientation tables help users orient themselves geographically and discover nearby UNESCO sites.
- 68 wayfinding posts were installed at key intersections, using cardinal directions to guide visitors.
- 45 pavement markers—featuring bronze studs and red engravings—trace the route for pedestrians.

All these wayfinding elements blend seamlessly into the Lyon cityscape, thanks to color choices and designs inspired by the city’s aesthetic.
